Burundian Refugees in Uganda
Due to tensions and conflict in 2015, our incredible local partners who led the Gitega Health Centre and Rohero Clinic--Drs. Aline and Euloge--were forced to leave Burundi. They set up a multi-family residence in Kampala, Uganda as the group (about 50 people, half of whom are 20 or under) pursues the UN Refugee application process (ideally targeting Canada). Their status, however, prohibits the adults from working and collecting salaries. The quarterly funding that CC4Africa provides helps them pay for necessities such as food, clothing, school supplies, rent and/or electricity. This program is ongoing until refugee status can be granted.
